August 26, 2011:  Police have captured a suspect for the attempted murder of a father.  The father was dropping off his two children with his estranged wife on Wednesday when the suspect walked up and shot him in the head.  The father is recovering in Vanderbilt.  The shooter has admitted to the slaying.  Police are not ruling out other arrests.

August 24, 2011:  Officers captured four teens this morning for breaking into and robbing fast food eateries in the Rivergate area.  Two of the teens were out on bond and awaiting sentencing on other robbery charges from earlier this summer.  They broke the windows of the eateries out with a concrete block and stole the cash drawers.  The other two were driving the getaway car.

August 23, 2011:  A private security guard at Nashville's Skyline Hospital was shot in the hand while trying to subdue a patient yesterday.  The patient was able to gain access to the officer's gun and discharge the weapon.

August 17, 2011:  Police are trying to identify an armed robber that robbed a convenience store last night on Old Hickory Blvd.  During a struggle with an employee of the store a clerk was shot in the jaw and is recovering in Vanderbilt.

August 15, 2011:  It pays to have good neighbors.  Alert neighbors called the police when they spotted two teens breaking into their neighbors house.  The seventeen-year-olds admitted to the burglary.

August 10, 2011:  A San Diego judge has ruled against private security guards in a 2009 incident at a Charger-Chiefs football game.  A Chiefs fan was forcibly removed from the game for obscene gestures.  The judge ruled that while his conduct was unsportmanlike it was not a crime.  The guards had to forcibly remove him while he was biting and kicking the guards.  The judge ruled the guards overstepped their authority.

August 9, 2011: The Bellevue Walgreen's was robbed late Sunday night.  An armed gunman walked up to the pharmacy and requested pain pills.  He received some and left.

August 8, 2011:  A fairly quite weekend in  Nashville.  Between the heat and the rain it seems like the rate of crime was a little lower than ususal.  Hopefully, this trend will continue this week.

August 4, 2011: Silverado's on Murfreesboro Road was closed due to being a public nuisance.  This is due to the police having to answer too many calls to this location.  These calls included fighting, quarrels, assualts including shootings and breaches of peace.

August 2, 2011:  Last weekends Operation Safer Streets resulted in 81 arrests - which included 14 felonies and the seizure of 13.5 ounces of marijuana, 1.2 grams of cocaine and 65.5 various pills.

August 1, 2011: A marijuana deal gone bad has resulted in a man being killed.  About 10:30 PM, William Black went to buy some pot and an arguement ensued.  When police arrived the suspect was missing and Mr. Black was dead.  William Black was on probation at the time for robbery.
