December 31, 2012: New Year's Eve is here. It's hard to believe that 2012 is over in a few hours. We have a very busy night ahead of us. Many parties hire contract security guard companies to provide security guards for there parties.
Late last week police in Nashville arrested a man that they believe is responsible for several robberies at different ATMs. The 26-year-old man allegedly kidnapped his last victim at an ATM on Charlotte Pike and forced the victim to drive to other ATMs and withdraw money. The suspect is being held on a $100,000 bond.

December 30, 2012: Earlier today police in Nashville arrested a nightclub DJ and charged the man with reckless endangerment. The DJ allegedly fired his shotgun at the club which shattered a glass door. The DJ said that he was confronted by someone with a handgun. For protection he retrieved his shotgun and fired several shots into the air. No one was injured.

December 28, 2012: Private security at Cool Springs Mall and Franklin police have been working an anti-shoplifting initiative called "Not in Our Mall". Undercover officers have been targeting shoplifters since Black Friday. The operation will continue for the remainder of the holiday shopping season. So far the operation has recovered over $20,000 in merchandise and resulted in 55 arrests.
A man in Nashville has been arrested and charged with three counts of rape and similar charges for an incident that happened Wednesday. The suspect placed a fake ad on Craigslist pretending to be looking to hire a secretary. A woman that showed up for her "interview" was forcibly raped by the suspect. According to police, the suspect admitted to placing the ad to lure a woman to his home.

Police officers in Nashville arrested three teens yesterday. A 16-year-old and two 14-year-old boys were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft. Police were notified by neighbors that watched the three suspects kick in the door of the home that they burglarized. All the items that were stolen were recovered.

December 26, 2012: Happy Birthday, Drew!!!!!!!
The second man that was shot during a drug-related shooting in north Nashville last week. The first victim died at the scene of the crime. Police believe the shooting was drug-related because marijuana that was packaged for re-sell was found at the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact police.

A private security guard in California was assaulted last Saturday while on duty. The security guard approached a woman that was shoplifting. The woman assaulted the security guard when he approached her. When police officers arrived the suspect was still trying to kick the private security guard. The security guard suffered only minor injuries.

December 24, 2012: I hope everyone is ready for Christmas. It sure doesn't feel like Christmas Eve as I sit here typing at On Guard Security's office in Nashville. Thanks to every private security guard that has to work a shift during the holidays. It is greatly appreciated.
Late last week in Florida a private security guard shot and killed a man outside of a nightclub. The armed security guard saw a man shooting into a crowd of people outside of a nightclub Saturday night. The armed officer ordered the gunman to drop his weapon, but the gunman turned his firearm toward the private security guard. The armed guard fired his weapon and killed the man that had been shooting. Two people were injured by the gunman before the security guard stopped him. Police are investigating. No charges have been filed yet.

December 23, 2012: Happy Birthday to Amy!!!!! Amy turns 25 today, and we are fortunate enough to have her in Nashville for her birthday. She came all the way from southern Florida yesterday.
A recent increase in car burglaries in Mt. Juliet caused the Mt. Juliet police to publicly remind everyone to be cautious about where they park there vehicle and to remember to lock there cars.
Parents of children that attend an elementary school in Oklahoma have banded together to hire a private armed security guard to patrol the elementary school. The parents move to hire a private security guard comes right after the school shooting in Connecticut.
Two people were shot in north Nashville last night on Hickory Trace Drive. Police responded to the call to find one person dead and the other victim critically injured. So far police have no motives or suspects for the double shooting.
Late last week the NRA called for a plan that would place an armed police officer in every school. Many people are outraged by the NRA's solution to school shootings and many people are supportive. The NRA's solution would be a very pricey solution.
Authorities in Canada are investigating a contract security guard company and some of the private security guards that work for the company for two assaults from earlier this year. The assaults were carried out by security guards at a mall in Canada. One incident involved a 16-year-old boy. The other incident involved a man in a wheelchair.
A man in Bellevue attempted to commit suicide by running into traffic on I-40. The man is now hospitalized, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

December 22, 2012: A woman in New Jersey is in the news recently because of her petition to put private armed security guards in public schools. The lady's petition is partly influenced by the recent shooting in Connecticut.

A private security guard in Hawaii was assaulted earlier this week by a 17-year-old boy. The 17-year-old allegedly threw a rock and hit the security guard. The security guard had to go to the hospital because of his injuries.

December 21, 2012: A traffic stop led to three people being arrested on meth-related charges on Wednesday in south Nashville. A tip led to police in Nashville investigating a residence on Karen Ray Ct. Police officers pulled over a man that was leaving the residence. During a search of the man's vehicle police officers found a gram of methamphetamine and other items that are typically used to manufacture methamphetamine. Police officers subsequently searched the home that the man had just left. Police officers discovered a meth lab. Two people were arrested at the home.
It's another chilly night in Nashville. I hope any security guard that is required to work an outside post brought there cold weather gear.

December 19, 2012: Two private security guards were injured and one security guard was killed last week aboard a ship from Honduras. The ship came under attack by armed pirates off the coast of Nigeria. A 20-minute gun fight between the pirates and security personnel took place before the pirates gave up.

Earlier this week in Texas a private security guard that was on duty in a movie theater shot a gunman. The gunman had already shot one man in the theater's parking lot. The gunman made his way into the movie theater and fired at least one shot. An armed security guard shot the gunman in the theater. The suspect was taken to the hospital.
It is a warm day in Nashville for mid-December.
I witnessed a very frightening and potentially dangerous situation unfold in south Nashville today. As I sat in traffic in my vehicle there was a wreck two cars in front of me. The driver of the car that was hit immediately got out of his vehicle and started crying then acting very belligerent. The driver of the car that was hit pulled out a firearm after a few minutes in traffic. Everyone panicked. It was chaotic. Fortunately, no one was injured.

A man in Springfield, Tennessee shot and killed himself last Friday after a six-hour standoff with police. The 29-year-old man threatened to kill himself and his girlfriend several times. The man fired several shots at police when they arrived. Police officers eventually used tear gas. When police officers gained entry to the home they discovered that the suspect was dead from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident is being investigated.
Last weekend in Nashville a man robbed a store on Donelson Pike near Elm Hill Pike. Donelson Pike Cigar and Ale was robbed at gunpoint at around 6pm Saturday. The suspect wore a mask and a hood and demanded money from the clerk. The man fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash in a white pickup truck with a magnetic sign on the side. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.

Last week in Memphis a female security guard was robbed and attacked in a downtown parking garage. A man grabbed the security guard from behind and put a knife to her throat. The man then demanded the security guard's purse. When the security guard gave up her purse the robber slammed her head into the back of a car. The security guard woke up over half an hour later.

A K-9 unit with the Metro Nashville Police Department tracked a suspect in two recent robberies back to her apartment. The robber fled the scene of the most recent crime on foot. The K-9 unit tracked the woman back to her apartment where police found the woman with a handgun and a glass pipe on her person. The woman is being held on an $85,000 bond.
Police in Nashville have identified a 17-year-old as a suspect in three shootings that have occurred this month. The 17-year-old is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility. The suspect has been charged with several charges, including attempted murder.
Rite Aid stores in Maine have recently hired a contact security guard company to provide security guards to several stores. The move to use contract security guards to help at Rite Aid has been a response to all the recent robberies of pharmacies in Maine. Officials at Rite Aid hope that the new private security guards will be enough to deter drug addicts that might rob the pharmacy to obtain prescription medicines.
A police officer and two other people were injured by a gunman in a hospital in Alabama earlier today. The gunman began firing at people on the third floor of a hospital. The gunman was killed by another police officer. All the victims have injuries that are non-life threatening.

December 14, 2012: Congratulations to Mariah for graduating with her Criminal Justice degree!
An 82-year-old man in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee was arrested today. The 82-year-old has been charged with rape of a child. Authorities say that additional charges are expected. According to police many incidents involving this man occurred at a local church.

December 13, 2012: A Louisiana man was sentenced to twenty years in prison for an incident that occurred in 2011. In 2011 the man robbed a private security guard that had just picked up a deposit on his armored truck route. The robber put a gun to the back of the security guard's head and demanded that he lay on the floor while the robber took the deposit.
Two security guards at a high school in Canada have been arrested on drug charges. The private security guards were caught with a large quantity of marijuana during a routine traffic stop. It has also been alleged that the security guards have been selling drugs to students of the high school on school property. The security guards work for a contract security guard company that was contracted to provide security officers in several schools in this region. The security guards that were caught with the marijuana are not working at any schools currently.
An undercover operation in California resulted in seven private security guards being issued misdemeanor citations for not having their security guard identification card on them. Security guards are required to have their security guard card on them when they are on duty.
A private security guard at a bank in India shot and killed two co-workers earlier this week. The armed security guard shot another security guard and then shot a teller. It is believed that the security officer shot the two people because they constantly teased him.
Private security guards in Nevada were shot at several times when they began chasing a man that was breaking into cars in the casino's parking lot. The security guards began chasing the suspect when he ran after being confronted by security. During the chase the suspect turned and fired several rounds from a handgun. Fortunately, no security guard was injured. The security officers stopped chasing the suspect, but they maintained visual contact with him until police officers arrived. The man was taken into custody by police without incident.
Two women in Clarksville were arrested Tuesday night after police discovered an alleged meth lab in a motel room. Police noticed a suspicious man sitting alone in a vehicle in the motel's parking lot. The man was questioned and searched after a K-9 unit detected drugs in the man's vehicle. Ingredients for manufacturing methamphetamine were found in the man's car along with some pills. The investigation led police to the motel room that the two women were staying in.

December 12, 2012: Police in Nashville have arrested an 11th grade student at Antioch High School after the student admitted to setting off a chemical reaction explosion yesterday in one of the boy's restrooms.
A senior citizen helped police in Goodlettsville apprehend two men that were stealing storm grates. The two men were caught red-handed by police officers. Police suspect the that the two men are responsible for similar crimes in other neighborhoods in the area.

December 11, 2012: The Metro Nashville Police Department's bomb squad was called to Antioch High School yesterday and the entire school was locked down after a small bottle was exploded in a boy's bathroom at the high school. Fortunately, no one was injured, and there was no damage done. The bottle that exploded is believed to be the only one that was at the high school. Authorities will not name the type of explosive that was in the bottle. Police are investigating. No one has been arrested at this point in the investigation.
Yesterday in Murfreesboro police officers arrested two people and discovered many components of a meth lab in an apartment that is very close to the M.T.S.U. campus. Murfreesboro police and the Tennessee Meth Task Force worked to remove the lab components and decontaminate the area.
Late last week in Illinois an armed security guard shot a man that was robbing another man at gunpoint. The armed guard saw the armed robbery as it was in progress. The private security guard announced his office and ordered the suspect to drop his weapon. The suspect turned toward the private security guard, then the guard fired at the suspect. The suspect was hit. The suspect is now hospitalized and faces at least five felony charges.
Police in Nashville arrested a 26-year-old man yesterday for allegedly raping his cousin. The suspect allegedly raped his cousin so that she would not be able to marry the man that she was engaged to marry. According to Egyptian custom the two would probably not be married if she had been raped. The suspect attempted to rape his cousin at the Hamilton Creek boat ramp.
A security guard that is employed by a contract security guard company in Tennessee shot a man that was armed with a knife outside of a gas station last week. Police are investigating the incident. According to witnesses the security guard saw a man steal three jackets from the gas station. The private security guard confronted the man in the parking lot. The man brandished a knife, and the security guard shot the suspect.

December 10, 2012: Last night in east Nashville a man was found shot to death. Police are investigating the incident.
Mt. Juliet police arrested a suspect in a multi state counterfeit operation late last month. The man faces at least six charges related to fraudulent checks. Police were tipped off by private security at Honda Corporation. Honda was the victim in several of the incidents.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office added Wendell Washam to their "Most Wanted" list. Washam is wanted for failure to appear for his trial on two counts of rape of a child and one count of electronic solicitation of a minor. Anyone that has information about him is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
Private security guards in Georgia helped police identify and apprehend a man that is a suspect in several different Craigslist robberies. The security guards were able to find video of the suspect and his license plate number which led police officers to the suspect.
It is a cold day in Nashville today! It is actually beginning to feel like December.

December 9, 2012: It is a rainy morning in Nashville. I hope all security guards that are having to work outside posts brought their rain gear to work. A dry guard is a happy guard.

Late last week in Canada a private security guard alerted police officers to a man that was in the process of committing suicide. The man jumped from a bridge into a frigid river below. The security guard was working a post where he regularly patrols along the river when he noticed the man. Police officers attempted to save the man, but the man died.
It has turned into a very warm and pleasant afternoon in Nashville especially for December.
Two men in California have been arrested and charged with at least four felonies for an incident that occurred last week. The two men allegedly assaulted a man while they were dressed as police officers. The two men allegedly attempted to kidnap the man. The victim was able to escape his two assailants and notify the police.

Police in Gallatin, Tennessee are investigating a robbery that occurred at a check advance store last Saturday. The suspect wore a ski mask, but was caught on camera. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Earlier today in Nashville a federal grand jury indicted the former owner of two closed nightclubs on Murfreesboro Road. Both nightclubs were padlocked by police officers and deemed public nuisances. The man was indicted for unlawful possession of a firearm. He was found in possession of a firearm the same day that police officers had closed one of the clubs. The suspect has an extensive criminal history which makes it illegal for him to own a firearm. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Police in Nashville are looking for a woman that robbed a Mapco convenience store early this morning. The suspect robbed a Mapco on Lebanon Road. The woman grabbed the money and ran east on Lebanon Road.
Earlier this week in Michigan a private security guard performed CPR on a young man and probably saved his life. The security guard was on duty working at a high school when a panicked young man came to him and told him that his friend had collapsed and was unresponsive. The security guard performed CPR and called paramedics. The young man's condition was last reported to be stable.

December 4, 2012: Police in Nashville are investigating after a man was found stabbed at Peeler Park in Madison. The victim was stabbed 14 time according to police and was found at 7:30 this morning by a man that was walking his dog. Police believe that two men and a woman are responsible for the stabbing. The suspects were last seen in a green SUV.
A wedding guest in the U.K. pleaded guilty yesterday to charges of criminal damage and assault. The charges are related to an incident in which the woman stabbed a private security guard with a hypodermic needle.
Late last week in Virginia a gang member was found guilty of murdering a contract security guard about a year ago. The security guard was on duty at an apartment complex. The security guard had been shot six times.

December 3, 2012: The director of security at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee was recently awarded the 2012 Founders Award by Private Officer International for his work in growing the organization in Tennessee. The security director helped found the Nashville chapter of POI in April and actively seeks to find more members.

All applicants should be licensed by the State of Tennessee as an armed or unarmed security guard depending on which position is being applied for. Police in Nashville are looking for two men that allegedly shot another man at a condo in south Nashville earlier this week. The incident occurred yesterday on Tampa Drive. The victim is reportedly listed as being in critical condition.
Last month was a great month for On Guard Security. We continue to grow!!!! We are growing in nearly every possible way. November brought new clients for our contract security guard services. Our revenue and income are growing, too. Our private security guards have grown. too They have gained more experience and in many cases have received more formal training. Most importantly is that everyone remained safe. No major incidents occurred in November.
A private security guard in Connecticut was injured last week when she fell off of a ladder while on duty. The female security guard injured her leg in the fall. The injury was bad enough to require that the injured officer went to the hospital.
