February 28, 2013: A teacher at Donelson Christian Academy has been placed on leave indefinitely. The teacher was placed on leave after the school's administration found out about an investigation involving the teacher's relationship with a student. Not many details are being released at this time.

February 26, 2013: It appears as though we have just started a very busy week again at On Guard Security, Inc. Yesterday was just as hectic as where we left off last week. Fortunately, our practice of retaining high quality private security guards, management, non-security personnel, and other security personnel will make a very busy week possible.

February 25, 2013: Schools in Williamson County, Tennessee are closed today while a manhunt continues for an employee of the school system. A maintenance worker at a school in Williamson County has been accused of a violent incident involving his wife and children. The man is accused of shooting at a vehicle that his wife and children were inside. The wife was injured. The suspect fled. Schools will be closed today as a precaution.

February 24, 2013: Thanks to all the private security guards that work with us and everyone else that has helped On Guard Security over the last week! Two men in south Nashville were arrested last evening by police. The men were charged with multiple drug charges. The arrests stem from an undercover police operation. An undercover officer bought over one pound of cocaine from the two men. After making arrangements to sell the cocaine to the undercover officer the two men were arrested and searched. In the suspects' vehicle police officers found cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Both men are currently in custody.

February 14, 2013: Happy Valentine's Day!!!!
A school security guard in Arkansas was arrested earlier this week and charged with second degree sexual assault involving a minor. Police officers arrested the security guard while he was on duty at a middle school. School officials say that the incident in which the security guard is charged did not occur at a school.

February 13, 2013: A man in California died earlier this week after a fight with private security guards at a nightclub. The man had apparently punched a security guard in the nightclub which prompted other security personnel to get the man out of the club. The man fought with the security officers. In the end it required four security guards to apprehend the man and force him out of the nightclub. Police are investigating the incident. The victim was a trained MMA fighter. None of the private security guards have been arrested or charged with anything related to this incident.

February 12, 2013: On Guard Security is currently taking applications to hire a part-time armed security guard for a post in the Nashville area and a full-time armed guard in the Nashville area. The full-time position will require a few shifts working as an unarmed guard. Both positions will be on second shift mostly, but may occasionally require some third-shift work. Anyone that is interested in applying for either position can complete the form on the Career page of this website. Applicants should already be licensed as an armed guard in Tennessee. Applicants must have experience in law enforcement, the military, corrections, or with a private security guard company.

February 11, 2013: Police officers in Nashville were called to east Nashville around 9:30 am yesterday to find a man that had been shot in the face. Police say that the suspect is a black male that was wearing a black shirt and black pants. The suspect fled the scene on foot according to witnesses. Police are still seeking a motive for this shooting. The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and remains in critical condition.
Authorities in Kentucky are searching for a missing 17-year-old. The 17-year-old young man was last seen Saturday afternoon in Trigg County, Kentucky. The missing person was last seen wearing jeans and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information about the young man's whereabouts is urged to contact the Trigg County Sheriff's Office at (270) 522-6014.

February 10, 2013: It's a warm morning here in Nashville. The temperature is in the fifties on a February morning. I'm not complaining. Fifties are infinitely preferable to twenties as far as temperatures are concerned.
Many thanks are due to many people. I could never hope to remember everyone that has helped during the past week, but I would like to mention some notable ones. Thanks to M. A private security guard in New Jersey was arrested last Thursday after he admitted to carrying a firearm to work as an unarmed security guard at a school. When investigators confronted the private security guard he admitted to carrying a firearm on duty at times claiming that he was a retired police officer and had authorization to carry a firearm. Authorities quickly determined that the security guard had never worked in law enforcement and did not have a license to carry a firearm in New Jersey. Detectives located the firearm that the security guard admitted to carrying on duty at the guard's home. The school security guard was not armed when detectives confronted him. The security guard was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer, possession of a weapon without a permit, and possession of a weapon in an educational institution. The security guard is being held on a $75,000 bond. Police were alerted to the security guard unlawfully carrying a firearm by another employee at the school where the security guard worked.
A private security guard in Houston has filed a lawsuit against the apartment complex that he worked for. The security guard was injured in an incident at the apartment complex last June and claims that the property's management is at fault. The private security guard was injured when a resident of the apartment complex shot at him. The resident shot two other people at the apartment complex that day and was later killed in a shootout with police officers. The security guard lost an eye and received head and back injuries. The lawsuit claims that the apartment complex's management failed to notify the security guard that the gunman had been evicted and barred from the property.

February 9, 2013: One person was hospitalized after a shooting in north Nashville last night. The shooting occurred around 7:30 pm. The victim was shot during a robbery attempt. The three suspects all wore masks according to police. No more information has been released.

February 8, 2013: Thanks to T.J., LaToya, Britt, and all the private security guards at On Guard Security that worked together in my absence to make all of our security guard operations run smoothly. Not only did our existing security guard operations go well, but we even picked up new clients!!!!

February 6, 2013: Yesterday in Nashville a small group of protesters gathered in front of the federal courthouse to demonstrate there opposition to the tightening up of regulations around dams. The Army Corps of Engineers were meeting to discuss regulations about boats near dams. Fishermen are upset that they may lose access to prime fishing waters below dams.

February 5, 2013: Two deputies of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office resigned yesterday. Both deputies resigned after being arrested and charged with DUI over the weekend. The deputies were charged in separate incidents. One of the deputies was also charged with possession of a weapon while under the influence. Both men have been released on bond.
A two-vehicle wreck in north Nashville ended with shots fired and an arrest late last Sunday. A man was rear-ended on Brick Church Pike by another vehicle. The vehicle that caused the collision tried to flee the scene of the accident, but the driver hit a telephone pole. A nearby witness attempted to help the fleeing man out of the car, but the suspect put his vehicle in reverse and began driving away as the witness was still holding on. The man that was rear-ended saw what was happening and fires his gun into the air to stop the suspect. The suspect got out of the vehicle and began running away. The police were called, and the suspect was apprehended. No one was injured by the gunshot.
A woman in Antioch was forced to the ground at gunpoint by two men late last Sunday. The two masked gunmen then took the woman's house keys, and went into her house. The woman had children that were inside the home when the masked men entered. The suspects took several items from the home, and then they fled in a gold Chevrolet Impala. The children in the home were not harmed by the suspects.
A private security guard in Texas was killed last weekend in a car wreck while he was on duty. The security guard was working on a patrol for a security guard company when he was hit head-on by a BMW. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither car had any other occupants.
It is an extremely nice, warm day for February here in Nashville!!

February 4, 2013: Police in North Carolina have arrested a man that allegedly shot at private security guards at a nightclub early Sunday morning. The man was ejected from the nightclub by private security guards along with four female associates. The suspect was ejected for fighting. After getting in his vehicle the suspect began arguing with the security guards again. The suspect got back out of the vehicle. One of the security guards eventually pepper sprayed the suspect. The suspect then returned to his vehicle and began shooting as he drove away from the nightclub. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
The Transportation Security Administration reports that two firearms were discovered at Nashville International Airport over the weekend. The firearms were discovered in separate incidents. An unloaded 9mm and an unloaded .38 caliber handgun were found in carry-on bags at TSA checkpoints in the airport. Over 1,500 firearms were found in airports nationwide last year according to the TSA. Six firearms have been found so far this year at Nashville's airport.

A fire at a Hermitage apartment complex left at least one person hospitalized. The condition of the person that was taken to the hospital is unknown at this time. When firefighters arrived at the apartment complex the fire had only spread to one building. Authorities are not releasing much information about the fire at this time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A man in North Carolina filed suit against Food Lion and the security guard company that provides the security guard services for Food Lion. According to the man that filed the lawsuit, a security guard in Food Lion approached him about some beer that he was concealing in his pants. According to the victim, the private security guard came up behind him and forced him to the ground. The security guard then had the man arrested. The man claims that Food Lion was negligent in its supervision of the security guard that took him down.

Republicans in Virginia's House of Delegates have proposed a grant program for public schools to spend on security personnel and physical security upgrades. A delegate announced that the new proposed budget will include $1.3 million for public schools in Virginia to hire additional armed resource officers or improve other aspects of security. In the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary it seems that everyone involved in schools is trying to make them safer even if it costs more money.
Over the weekend a woman at a nightclub in Memphis began shooting at people in the club. According to police, the woman that began shooting was involved in a large brawl at the nightclub. During the fighting the woman pulled out a handgun and began firing. Five people were injured in the shooting. Two of the five that were shot are in critical condition.

Nashville saw more snow today. Plenty of people were caught by surprise by this snow. Traffic was horrible on Murfreesboro Road this morning as I tried to make my way to On Guard Security's office.

February 1, 2013: February of 2013 is already here. This year is getting off to an incredibly fast start it seems. Apparently, February brought snow with it. It's just after midnight here in Nashville, and the entire ground is covered with snow. Hopefully, roads don't get too bad overnight. We have had some very diverse weather in middle Tennessee lately.
The National Weather Service has added two more tornadoes to the number that touched down in middle Tennessee on Wednesday. According to their count the total number of tornadoes that touched down across middle Tennessee.
An armed school security guard in Atlanta disarmed an active gunman yesterday. The private security guard disarmed a student that had already shot another student at Price Middle School in Atlanta. Multiple shots were fired at the middle school yesterday. The gunman was apprehended. The student that was shot was taken to a hospital. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening. Not much information is currently being released about the armed guard and whether or not the armed security guard is always in that particular middle school.
Winter weather has caused many schools in middle Tennessee to be closed for the day. Driving conditions appeared to be just fine as I drove to work today. Motorists should be cautious, though.
A former armed security guard was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in Georgia yesterday. The former security guard was on trial for a July 2011 shooting spree inside a parking garage where he worked as an armed guard. The shooting spree killed one woman, paralyzed another woman, and left a third woman with several gunshot wounds.
Congratulations to Lt. White for all her achievements at the Y.O.C. I would also like to thank all the people at Y.O.C. for all the hospitality that they have shown Lt. White and every other security guard from On Guard Security that has worked at that post.
A 37-year-old man in Nashville was arrested last night and charged with a large number of felony drug and weapons charges. The arrest comes after police officers raided a house that the man owned. Inside the house officers found over 10 pounds of marijuana, nearly a half of an ounce of mushrooms, 40 marijuana plants, a shotgun, and a semi-automatic pistol.
Last night at around 10:30 p.m. two men entered an apartment where a small party was taking place and started firing at the party goers. The incident happened in Clarksville, Tennessee. According to witnesses, one of the suspects was armed with a pistol, and the other was armed with a rifle. The people attending the party began trying to flee any way that the could, including jumping from the balcony. Three people were injured during the incident. Not much information has been released at this point. The investigation is ongoing.
