July 31, 2013: On Guard Security, Inc. wants to thank all the private security guards that work with us. Special thanks to Lt. White, Officer Wilson, Officer Clark, Britt, Officer Traister, Peggy, Officer Mitchell, and Officer Roberts for all the additional help that you have given. Thanks guys!!
It is a rainy morning today in Nashville. Traffic was not too bad this morning though. I was able to get down Briley Parkway fairly easily at about 7 a.m. I had to work an unarmed security guard post with Officer Wilson last night in Madison. Everything went well last night. There were no incidents of any kind. I still prefer not to work third shift security posts especially after a full day of work at the office.

A school district in California will move forward next school year without the added security of hiring a private protective services company to provide security guards. The school district discussed adding private security guards to schools for after-hour school activities. The school district currently has police officers during school hours at their middle schools and high schools. It was also up for discussion about hiring a security guard company to provide a security patrol to all the schools in that district. Unfortunately, both ideas were stopped before they were voted on.
A Coffee County, Tennessee man was arrested earlier this week for allegedly targeting two witnesses. Authorities claim that the suspect built two pipe bombs and placed them in two cars. The suspects carried out the plan except that the security guard recovered much more quickly than they had expected. The armed security guard was able to shoot one of the robbers. July 26, 2013: A man in Murfreesboro had a close call in a road rage incident. The victim passed the suspect, and apparently the suspect was very offended by it. Thanks to all the private security guards and other security personnel that work with On Guard Security, Inc. It is a pleasure to work with private security guards that are professional and reliable. The office workers and other support staff at On Guard Security, Inc. are just as good at what they do as our security guards. This is one security guard company that is not a headache to work for. Many companies hire guards that do not care for their jobs very much. Those security guards that are just on post to collect a check. Our security guards care about the services that they provide, and that makes all the difference in the world in the contract security guard business
Everyone here at On Guard Security, Inc. would like to wish Kyle a happy birthday. We hope this a great birthday for you!!!

Cooler temperatures made for a very nice day here in Nashville, Tennessee. It was so nice that I finally made myself go to the river to fish. I very rarely have time to go fishing anymore, but I still enjoy it as much as ever. Although fly fishing is my favorite, I love all fishing. My fly fishing gear was not ready to take to the river so I just headed to the Stones River with my spinning tackle and fished from the riverbank. I didn't do very well as far as catching fish goes, but I had a great time just being on the river on such a beautiful day.

Nashville and surrounding areas were hit by some pretty severe thunderstorms earlier today. The storms were severe where I was anyway. I had to pull over on the side of I-24 on my way to Murfreesboro earlier today because the rain was so heavy. It seems like this year has had much more precipitation than most other summers than I can remember. I hope we have some drier days in the very near future.
On Guard Security is currently looking to hire two armed security guards for posts in the Nashville area and one armed guard for a post in Knoxville. However, sometimes these guards will be required to work the second shift. The armed officer in Knoxville will be scheduled whenever he is needed. This officer will work many different private security guard posts at different times of the day throughout the Knoxville area. Investigators are searching for a man that is believed to be responsible for causing a wreck on I-24 earlier today. The wreck occurred on eastbound I-24 in LaVergne between the Waldron Road exit and the Sam Ridley exit around 2 a.m. That section of the interstate was closed for several hours following the wreck. The wreck left two people injured, damage to multiple vehicles, one person dead, and a manhunt for the driver that is believed to be responsible for the collision. Both of the injured drivers were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries that they received from the wreck. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling the wrong way on eastbound I-24 and hit another vehicle head on. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the wreck. Authorities are searching for a 35-year-old man from Nashville in connection with the wreck. The man fled the scene of the accident. A manhunt and search of the area was conducted after a journalist claimed to have seen a man that matches the suspect's description walk into the woods at area not too far from where the vehicle's crashed. The Tennessee Highway Patrol, the LaVergne Police Department, and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office had law enforcement personnel that helped with the search for the suspect. The Metro Nashville Police Department provided a helicopter to help with the manhunt. Police officers have questioned the suspect's wife about his whereabouts. A private security guard in Illinois has found himself in the news recently. Pictures have turned up of a hotel security guard watching porn in plain sight of guests including any children that could possibly walk by. Since the pictures have surfaced many other accusations have been made against this particular security guard. A vendor that frequently visits the Holiday Inn where this particular security guard works says that the guard drinks on the job, too. Many female employees of the hotel claim to have been grabbed or touched in a sexual way by the security guard. The really bad part is that these same employees claim to have already told management about the security guard's behavior and nothing has been done to the security guard. I am quite sure all this new attention that this security guard is getting will help change the way that he conducts himself on the job.
According to several reporters, private security guards that work for Taylor Swift tried to shut down a 4th of July parade that was happening near her residence. The security guards say that they thought that the parade was getting out of control. This is not the first time that Ms. Swift's private security guards have angered other residents of the community. The security guards that work for Ms. Swift have a reputation in the area now for being overzealous. Some of the security guards claimed that kids were "pelting" them with candy at the 4th of July parade. This statement is ridiculous because at the parade the kids were passing out candy to the crowd. With comments like that coming from the security guards I can definitely see why residents of the community are sick of Taylor Swift's security guards.

A former police officer in Portland, Tennessee helped police catch two suspected gun thieves Thursday. The former officer, also a licensed firearms dealer, got a call from an Indiana couple that wanted to sell some guns. The story that the couple told the firearms dealer seemed suspicious so he notified the police. At the arranged meeting to sell the firearms the firearms dealer text the serial number from the first gun to police officers who quickly determined that the gun was stolen. Police officers arrested the two suspects in the parking lot of the firearms dealer's store. Police searched the couple's vehicle and discovered more guns, jewelry, knives, and watches that police believe to be from burglaries.

A new law in Tennessee makes prison sentences tougher on gang members that commit crimes. The new law allows prosecutors to ask a judge for a harsher sentence for felony crimes if the defendant is proven to be a member of a gang. The new law is intended to stop existing gang members from committing crimes, to curtail violent crimes, and help to prevent prospective gang members from joining gangs. Criminal defense attorneys worry that civil liberties could be violated by enforcement of this law. The new law took effect on July 1st. The Metro Nashville Police Department's Gang Unit sees the new law as essential in taking back some neighborhoods in Nashville.

Citizens of northern Wisconsin are upset by a contract security guard company. The security guard company that has caused so much uproar among citizens is providing private security guards to drill sites for a company that recently was recently raided by fifteen masked people that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. It seems to be the security guards' appearance that troubles citizens. The private security guards that patrol these drill sites are dressed in camouflage fatigues. According to a senator that has spoken out against the new security personnel, the security guards appear more like "mercenaries in a time of war" than private security guards. The senator also mentions the fact that the armed guards are carrying semi-automatic assault rifles. The security guards at these drill sites are wearing masks, too. I find the masks to be peculiar, too. I just do not see the need for private security guards in this situation to wear masks. However, there is much more to the story than I know. I would imagine that there is some reason why the security officers are wearing the masks. The sheriff of a county where one drill site is located has spoken out against the new security, too. He claims that it is a concern for him because the security guards are armed.
