A 20-year-old man accidently shot his teenage cousin while playing with a gun. These types of accidents are far too common. Guns should always be kept locked up and inaccessible to unauthorized people. People should familiarize themselves with firearms in a formal or informal setting with a person that is knowledgable in firearms. Familiarity with guns would decrease accidental injuries from guns.

May 22, 2010: Thanks to all the security guards that work with On Guard Security. A special thanks to Jamaal, Randy, and Victor.

The security guard company that patrols the plaza where my office is located has angered me again to the point that I am writting about them. The bad habits and poor work ethic at this particular contract security guard company seems to be a problem at even the highest level. The owner of that particular company has been on post for the last two days. He just stands at one of the "anchor" tenent's doors all day. What about the rest of us? Don't we pay for security guard services, too. I am amazed that they still manage to keep that contract.

It has been several weeks since the flooding in Nashville, but the demand for contract security guard services in the areas that were flooded is still high.

A security guard in San Diego was stabbed twice earlier this week. The guard was on post at a grocery store when two men tried to steal alcoholic beverages. May 14, 2010: The security guard that patrols our office complex is late once again. As I type this the guard is over 30 minutes late. Every security officer that I have seen that is employed by the contract security guard company that guards this complex is inadequate. It amazes me that this particular security guard company has been able to keep this contract for as long as they have. Even when one of the private security guards that they employ is capable of doing a great job the leadership in that company quickly destroys any chance that the guard might have had.

How effective can a security guard be when he is also playing janitor? This question arises because of a security guard that I saw earlier today. The guard was employed by a contract security guard company in Nashville and was working a post for a company that is global. The guard could not have been very effective in my opinion. Picking up trash seemed to be more important. I'm unsure of whether it was the guard's idea to pick up or whether he was asked to clean up by the security guard company or their client. Either way it was a bad decision.
