September 30, 2013: William County sheriffs department are investigating a burglary last night. Police state at least ten vehicles were burglarized and each of the vehicles seem to have been left unlocked.
In South Nashville this morning a US bank was robbed. The suspect slipped a robbery demand to the teller and made off with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured and the police are still searching for the suspect.
TJ Maxx in Cool Springs is closed today while detectives gather evidence following a weekend burglary. The suspects has gained access through the roof. They remained undetected by the security system as they made there way to the stores cash office. Money seems to be the main target.
A private security guard for Walmart in Wisconsin was punched in the head and the guard and another employee were almost ran over by a female suspect as she was attempting to flee. The security guard had noticed that she had hid some items in her purse when she went to the register to pay for other items. When he called her out on it she became enraged, threw the stolen items on the floor and yelled obscenities at the security guard. She was able to get into her vehicle and the guard stated she gunned the engine and accelerated toward them before slamming her on her brakes. She was arrested on suspicion of second-degree reckless endangerment, battery, resisting an officer, disorderly conduct and retail theft.

September 29, 2013: In Newton County just outside of Atlanta a five year sheriffs deputy has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest for selling marijuana out his patrol car and in uniform. The deputy told an informant that he could sell pot without fear because he drives safely and flashes his credentials to get out of tickets if stopped. He is being charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and with carrying a firearm during a drug offense. He is out on bond. If convicted he could face a life sentence.
A private security officer shot a man who had tried to rob a reporter in California. The reporter had just finished an interview when two armed men demanded his gear and camera. Bay area television stations normally hire security guards for the news crews in certain areas that pose a security risk. During the attempted robbery the security guard shot one of the suspects in the leg. Authorities are not releasing anymore information at this time.
Overnight in Franklin County, Tennessee a man was sent to the hospital after he was stabbed in the back and his throat had been slit. The incident stems from a domestic dispute between two men and one woman. The three had a consensual relationship. All three individuals lived at the same residence. The man is currently listed in stable condition. No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
In Kentucky a Tennessee woman and a former Kentucky prison guard have pleaded not guilty to charges that they helped smuggle marijuana, cellphones, tobacco and sexually explicit photographs to inmates. The woman is accused of securing the contraband and the former guard of smuggling the items into a federal correctional institutions. An inmate would advised the two of what was needed and then pass out the contraband to fellow inmates to sell.
It is hard to believe September is almost over with. September has been a great month for On Guard. Thanks to all our security officers and security personnel. The time of year is coming upon us to be extra cautious out here. It seems the holiday season can bring out the best and worst of people. September 28, 2013: A private security guard who was working an overnight shift at a Bank of America in Baltimore was shot and killed when he tried to break up a fight between a man and several others who had been arguing over a woman. He died shortly after being taken to the hospital. A 24yr old man has been arrested and charged with murder.
In California a young man was stabbed to death following an altercation after a major league baseball game. He was the son of a private security guard who works for the Dodger stadium. The altercation started over the fact the victim was wearing Dodgers gear and the suspects were Giants fans. The victim had attended the Giants game, yet the suspects did not. The two groups of men had exchanged words after leaving a nightclub when things turn deadly. Two men are in custody and one of the suspects made incriminating statements and will face homicide charges. Police have yet to recover the weapon used in the attack.
September 27, 2013: What a beautiful day it is outside here in Nashville. It has been a very hectic yet productive week here at On Guard. Thanks to all my private security officers who have gone above and beyond for us this week. It makes it a little easier knowing that I can always relay on my quality security officers.
UPS in Nashville is working with their customers to replace merchandise that was stolen by two of their part-time employees. The two suspects had been under investigation for close to a year. Police state that the one employee was caught leaving the facility with sixteen playstation 3 video games, while the other employee attempted to get away with ten video games. The suspects had admitted to the theft and signed confessions after they were confronted by UPS internal investigators. The games were worth $1500. Both men are out on a $25,000 bond.
In E. Nashville outside a local gas station, two men and one woman were robbed by two armed men of their cellphones, car keys, clothes and a handgun. The victims were left without their pants and shoes. Police have yet to locate the suspects and no descriptions of them are known at this time.
A private security officer at a high school in Chicago dies after falling against a locker while trying to break up a fight at the school. The security officer and a fellow co-worker had responded to a fight between two females in the school hallway. While they were trying to break up the fight he fell against the lockers and had trouble breathing and paramedics were called. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The students involved along with witnesses were being questioned by police. No further information is available at this time.
September 26, 2013: A private security guard on patrol was shot and killed in Detroit. The security guard was in his car on patrol when someone tried to rob him, the guard was able to fire one shot striking the suspect. The security guard died at the hospital. Police arrested the suspect at the hospital unlike his victim he is expected to survive.
Miami police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man with first degree murder and armed robbery in the killing of a private security Lieutenant. The Lieutenant was doing his rounds at an apartment complex when he was gunned down inside his vehicle. The suspect then pulled the Lieutenant out of his car and stripped him of his service weapon and other property. Police were able to catch up with the suspect and they found the victims identification cards, credit cards and cash on him. According to the arrest affidavit three other people were involved in the robbery and murder, police are still trying to locate the remaining three suspects.
This morning in Nashville a woman was booked into metro jail on multiple charges after authorities found more than 900 grams of marijuana in her vehicle within reach of an unrestrained child. Officers had pulled her over because they couldn't see her license plate. She was taken into custody after they discovered her drivers license was expired and the officers saw a child in the backseat without the proper restraints. A passenger in the car stated that the marijuana was his and that the driver knew nothing about it. He was also arrested. She is currently being charged with driving on a revoked license, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, having drugs in a drug-free school zone and child endangerment, her bond is set at $37,000. No information has been made available on the passengers charges.
September 25, 2013: In Antioch last night police say at least twenty-two shots were fired during a drive-by shooting at least eight of the bullets went into the home while the remainder hit two cars. no one was hurt, and at this time its not clear if anyone was home during the incident.
Overnight in Washington police say two thieves were bold enough to pose as private security officers and break into cars in two different residential neighborhoods. Witnesses state that they say the suspects smashing the windows and taking the personal items left in the vehicle. Police are still investigating and no other information is available at this time.
September 24, 2013: In Nashville a local firefighter and his brother were asked to leave a nightclub downtown after an altercation. The two brothers allegedly attacked a private security officer and hit him over the head with a beer bottle. They have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The firefighter has been put on leave pending an investigation.
New York fire marshals have arrested a private security guard for allegedly setting eight fires over the past four years at two hotels where he worked as a security guard. He allegedly set the fires in the hallways, stairwells and exit doors. The fire marshals believe he set the fires to bring negative attention to the hotels and their popular nighttime crowds so that his own job would be less demanding, No injuries were reported in any of the fires.
California police are investigating a shooting after a private security guard shot and killed a man. Witnesses say a man asked the security guard on duty if he could use his cell phone. The man used the phone and allegedly threw it on the ground. Police say that led to a fight and that's when the security guard shot the man in the chest, killing him. The investigation will determine whether charges will be filed against the security guard.

September 23, 2013: In Canada a former armored car security guard has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for forty years. The security guard had shot three of his colleagues in the head as they stood with their backs to him. He then returned to the armored truck and shot and wounded a fourth co-worker.
An armed security guard opened fire on would-be robbers at an internet café in Florida. Three armed individuals burst into the café to rob the business. The security officer was able to respond immediately he was able to control his gunfire and remove himself from harms way taking cover he ended up wounding one of the robbers. No further information is available.
September 21, 2013: In Kentucky a man was fatally shot after he was confronted by the owner of the vehicle he was allegedly breaking into. A resident saw the suspect breaking into his neighbors vehicle and called the police and he also contacted his neighbor. Both men got their weapons and confronted the suspect who was inside the vehicle. They were able to get him out and tried to hold him until police arrived, but a struggle ensued when he tried to flee and that's when the fatal shot was fired. An investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed yet.
It sure is a beautiful cool day in Nashville. Thanks to all the security guards and other security personal that were working last night in the rain so that we can sleep easier at night. September 20, 2013: In Pennsylvania Wednesday a man admitted to injuring a supermarket security officer while trying make his getaway after shoplifting at the store. A female security officer had noticed the suspect shoplifting as she approached him he began to running even though she had identified herself and asked him to stop. The suspect was able to get into his vehicle, but the officer was able to grab a hold of the items and was partially yanked into the vehicle. The suspect rocked the vehicle in an attempt to dislodge the officer. When that didn't work he drove at a higher rate of speed with her legs still outside the vehicle and dragged her across the parking lot. The security officer finally let go falling from the moving vehicle. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for a bruised and punctured lung a laceration to the pelvic area, sprained right shoulder and cuts and bruises to her left leg, knees, thigh and head. The suspects mother had contacted the police regarding her sons use of her vehicle and as a result they were able to identify him as the suspect.

September 19,2013: A neighborhood in California have joined together in hiring of private security guards to patrol their streets. Crime in their city has soared in recent years and its been taking longer for police guards to arrive.
Franklin police have closed almost 30 drug cases and arrested 12 alleged drug dealers. There charges range from delivery of marijuana to selling crack cocaine near parks and schools.
From south Nashville to Madison 14 metro transportation authority bus shelters have been vandalized over the past two weekends. Twenty-one glass panels needed to be replaced, if anyone has any information they are requesting you contact metro police.
Starbucks in New York city are requesting handgun carry permit holders do not bring their weapons inside their locations. They haven't officially banned them yet, they state it is just a request they hope their patrons will abide by. They will not refuse service to someone that does bring their weapon with them.
So the week is almost done, yet our private security officers don't get the advantage of having a Monday thru Friday job. I am very thankful for our officers who are willing to work any shifts we need them to. Good job this week and I Thank You for making On guard a continued success!
September 18, 2013: In Antioch a 22-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery and criminal impersonation of a police officer. The suspect had waited outside of a home in Antioch for the victim to arrive, he was able to talk the victim into getting in his car. The victim had realized something was wrong and tried to escape but that's when the suspect told him he was a police officer, showed him a badge, gun and then handcuffed him, soon after the victim was able to escape but as he was running for help the suspect ran over his leg with his vehicle. The suspect admitted to the crime yet did not give a motive. He is in metro jail on a $55,000 bond.
In north Nashville this morning a man had reported to the police that two men approached him and attempted to rob him. They were not able to complete the robbery but before they ran away the suspects did pistol whip him and shot the victim in the shoulder. The victim states he did not know the suspects and couldn't give a description of them. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threating injuries.
After an extensive search Georgia police were able to locate a 14-year-old girl who had been taken from her home in the early morning hours on Tuesday. The suspects had broken into her home and demanded money and jewelry they even shot and killed the family dog. The young girls mother tried to hide her and her 15-year-old brother but the suspects found them in the home. She has since been reunited with her family and the police have the two suspects in custody.
September 17, 2013: In Gainesboro an emergency medical services director risked his own life to save a woman from a burning home, despite not having protective gear. The EMS director is also a volunteer firefighter. Since he had no gear on and the home was filled with black smoke he went in on his hands and knees and started crawling. He was able to locate her and put her in the arms of fellow EMT's. He never even saw the woman he saved before she was loaded into a ambulance.
At the Nashville International airport this weekend TSA agents found a loaded weapon inside a travelers carry on bag. Airport police took possession of the weapon. This weekends discovery was the 38th gun that has been discovered at the Nashville airport this year.
In Jackson this afternoon a man opened fire on the Lane College campus. Police are still searching for the alleged gun man along with another person who drove him away. Thankfully no one was injured.
A man in Nashville found his own stolen motorcycle. He had set up a meeting with another man to purchase a motorcycle that looked allot like his on craigslist. He brought the police with him and the police confirmed it was his motorcycle after verifying the vin# and the stolen bike report. Police charged the man with theft of property. The suspect stated he bought the motorcycle from someone else and didn't steal it.

September 16, 2013: Cumberland University is honoring those who lost their lives in the line of duty this week. International private officer memorial week started Sunday. 1200 private security officers have been killed in the line of duty over the past ten years. 63 men and women have died in Tennessee. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at their Mt. Juliet campus.
Portland police are searching for a man who allegedly chocked his girlfriend and tied her up with duct tape and rope. The victim claims he became angry after she asked him to leave so she could go to church. The suspect then grabbed her by her hair and dragged her into another room where he proceeded to choke her until she passed out. When the victim awoke she found herself bound with the duct tape and rope. The victim was able to convince him to untie her and she ended up escaping and contacting police.
September 14, 2013: It is such a beautiful day here in Nashville. I am enjoying the cooler temperature. It has also been a very busy week here at On Guard. A Greenbriar man has been released on a $5000.00 bond, after police pulled him over for expired tags and officers reported a strong smell of marijuana. Police found a six pound brick under his seat wrapped in a sweatshirt. It is estimated to be worth $27,000.00. He refuses to answer any questions about the marijuana.
The state medical examiner is trying to determine a cause of death in a body that was found in a rural area of Wayne county Friday. Metro police say it may be related to a missing person case that is over four years old. Officials decline to say anything else at this time.
A security guard in Dallas was almost ran over last night. The guard had approached the suspect for playing his music to loud. When the guard tried to record the vehicles license plate number the suspect pulled forward and turned his tires toward the security guard. The suspect the attempted to flee the area, they security guard ordered him to stop and drew his weapon, but the suspect continued to drive away with the security guard pursuing on foot. The suspect then stopped his vehicle and tried to walk away but the security guard was able to detain him. The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault of a security officer. He remains in the Dallas county jail on a $25,000 bond for the assault.
September 13, 2013: A man was robbed and carjacked by four black males on Linbar Drive just after 4 a.m. Three suspects have been apprehended and one remains at large following a carjacking and manhunt early Friday morning. An unmarked police car spotted the suspects at a gas station on Bell Road. When approached by the police, the suspects fled. They led police on a chase at speeds up to 70 miles per hour, that ended when the carjackers crashed on the side of Hamilton Church Road, the suspects then fled on foot. Three 18-year-old suspects were apprehended during the incident, however one suspect remains at large. He is believed to be in his early 20s and wearing orange shorts.
Authorities discovered 4 bodies by a resident of the Renegade Mountain resort community who saw the parked car on his way to work at about 7 a.m. Thursday.
McKenzie said investigators have developed leads they are pursuing. They do not believe the shooter was among the victims. Cumberland County Deputy District Attorney General said investigators are still working to identify the victims.
September 12, 2013: Overnight in Donelson, Roma Pizza was robbed. Police believe that two black males with weapons were hiding behind a dumpster, and when an employee came out to smoke they forced him inside and robbed the pizza place along with a delivery driver. The suspects allegedly fled on foot and the canine unit were called out but they were unable to track the suspects.
Do not be alarmed today around noon when you here the tornado sirens going off. It is just a test. Its only expected to last one minute.
In Charleroi, PA. a school security officer is accused of waving a gun inside a exxon gas station and shouting " I shoot to kill". He has been charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was hired as an armed security officer for the Charleroi area school district. He is currently in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 3.
13 Licensed teachers and staff began carry guns on campus in the Clarksville school district today. The licensed faculty and staff also will be wearing white private security badges as well as their weapon. Signs are being posted on campus advising parents and bystanders that there are armed guards on the school grounds. The school will be working very closely with the Clarksville police department as they proceed with there new plan.
Please be cautious driving today, this rain just doesn't seem to want to stop. Hopefully we will feel some cooler temperatures in the coming days.
September 11, 2013: It's hard to believe that today marks the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Tributes are being held all across the United States. In Lebanon there will be a celebration to honor the lives of the people affected by the terror attacks. It will start at 4:30pm and a fireworks display will begin around 8:00pm at the James E Ward Agricultural Center on East Baddour Pkwy.
A man has been sentenced to 11yrs in prison for plotting to harm a TBI agent. The man had actually plotted with his mother. He blames the agent for his conviction last year on drug charges. Police had gathered evidence via phone calls between him and his mother, they didn't realize jail phone calls are recorded. His mother is scheduled to be sentenced September 19.
Handgun carry permit class will be this Friday 13th and Saturday 14th. This allows citizens who pass the class to apply to the State of Tennessee for their handgun carry permit. After a background check and fingerprinting a concealed carry permit may be issued. The individual will then be allowed to carry a concealed weapon on their person as long as it is not prohibited at that location. Prohibited locations include schools, some parks and court houses as well as other locations.

September 7, 2013: It looks like it's going to be another very hot day in Nashville! I hope everyone remains safe in the heat and takes precautions against heat-related illnesses.
A very special thanks to all the private security guards that made adjustments to their schedules this week to help out, we couldn't have done it without these guys. Thankfully our private security guards are committed to On Guard Security and to our clients. A violent Nashville criminal who had been recently released is now charged with the carjacking of a 60 year old woman and resisting police. The woman tried to fight back but he pulled a weapon on her, thankfully she was not seriously hurt. He is back in metro jail and being held on 160,000 bond. After a 4 month investigation metro officers have busted an illegal gambling ring at a home off Mossdale drive in Antioch. 2 people have been arrested and police are stating that the home was being used as a "count house" for illegal gambling proceeds. Officers confiscated $114,000 in cash and a BMW and a mini cooper. Both suspects remain in jail at this time.
September 2, 2013: Five people in Nashville have been arrested in connection with a murder that was committed in south Nashville early Saturday morning. Two women left a bar in Nashville with two men. Three men that knew the women followed them to an apartment complex. At the apartment complex the three men approached the men that had come home with the two women. The three men attempted to rob the two men that left the bar with the women. One of the two men that left the bar with the women was killed during a struggle in the robbery. Police officers are still investigating the robbery. Five people have been taken into custody in connection with the robbery.
